A great honour - Riddle

21st March 2008
Jake Riddle admitted he was "surprised but happy" to collect three trophies at the Excel Hull Stingrays awards night.

The American forward was named player of the year, the forward of the year and was voted the fans' favourite. David Phillips picked up the defenceman of the year accolade and Lee Esders received the most improved gong.

Riddle said: "To get the MVP is a great honour but it means just as much to be voted the fans' favourite as it shows they appreciate what you are doing on the ice.

"I know I should have scored more points as I missed some chances and there are some things I could have done better. But personally I am OK with what I have done this season."
