Strachan wants winning send-off

20th March 2008
Excel Hull Stingrays coach Rick Strachan is determined to end the bmibaby Elite League campaign with a victory over Manchester Phoenix at Hull Arena on Sunday (6pm face-off).

Stingrays, who have endured an injury-plagued season, have won their last three home games and Strachan wants his players to give their fans the perfect send-off.

He said: "It's been a long and emotional rollercoaster this season but we have one more game and we want to end it the same way we started and that's with a victory. Getting a victory would mean a lot to myself, the owners and the fans.

"It's not a nothing game for the fans and it's not a nothing game to me. Every time you come to the rink, you have to want to compete and you have to want to win. Usually who wins those games are the ones who want it the most and hopefully we will want it more than Manchester. Personal pride is important for most athletes."
