Stingrays go down to Panthers

16th March 2008
Coach Rick Strachan admitted the late injury to captain Jeff Glowa played a significant part in Excel Hull Stingrays' 4-2 defeat by Nottingham Panthers at the National Ice Centre in the bmibaby Elite League.

Rob Rankin fired Stingrays ahead, James Ferrara and Mark Richardson put Panthers in front before Glowa levelled. Matt Myers and an empty-net Sean McAslan marker, with 18 seconds left, secured the win for the hosts.

Glowa missed the final 11 minutes of the game after suffering a facial wound and Strachan said: "It didn't help losing your number one centre man. It was a turning point because we played pretty well before that.

"We competed hard and Ladi [goaltender Ladislav Kudrna] was outstanding. I am satisfied with the performance but you always want to win."
