Strachan - We must keep Hemingway quiet

7th March 2008
Coach Rick Strachan knows Excel Hull Stingrays must shut down Colin Hemingway if they are to prevent their season from coming to an end against Edinburgh Capitals tomorrow.

The Canadian forward has enjoyed playing against Stingrays and has posted 11 goals and five assists - including successive hat-tricks - in six meetings.

Defeat at Hull Arena would end Stingrays' slim hopes of making the post-season and Strachan said: "Edinburgh are playing extremely well. They went in to Coventry last Sunday and came out with a 3-1 victory.

"It comes down to our season again. We have to play our very best. We also need to keep Hemingway off the board because he seems to get a hat-trick every time we have played them this year!

"It would be nice to get back-to-back wins and put ourselves right back in the thick of things for the last four games. Edinburgh are also battling for a play-off spot. They are tied on points with Basingstoke and they know if they drop points it could be the end of their season. There is a lot at stake for both teams.

"If we win it might be the little kick in the butt the guys need to start believing they still have a chance. You have to believe you can do it otherwise you might as well pack up now. There is always a light at the end of the tunnel and the glass is always half full, not half empty. I just want to win on Saturday and then worry about Newcastle on Sunday."
