Stingrays duo in preliminary GB squad

3rd March 2008
Excel Hull Stingrays defencemen Dave Phillips and Luke Boothroyd have been named in Great Britain coach Paul Thompson's 34-man preliminary squad for the World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria, next month.

Phillips has played in the past two tournaments while Boothroyd recently made his senior debut in the Euro Challenge in France.

Thompson will then cut the squad to 22, who will be part of a four-day training camp in Coventry from April 8-11 before flying to Austria the following day.

Britain will play five games at Innsbruck's TWK Arena against Poland, Austria, Korea, Holland and Kazakhstan.

A warm-up game against Sweden Under-20s has also been arranged for Thursday April 10.
