Mitchell happy in Hull

24th April 2008
Lee Mitchell believes Excel Hull Stingrays "is the best place to be" if he is to fulfil his ambition of playing for the senior Great Britain side.

The 21-year-old forward, who will have keyhole surgery to clean up a knee-cartilage problem next month, has become the club's first signing for the 2008/09 bmibaby Elite League campaign after returning for a fourth successive year.

He said: "Hull is the best option for me. I get plenty of ice time and you need that if you are going to get into the GB set-up. I am given the chance to play on the powerplay and penalty kill and play against some of the best players in the league.

"Getting in the GB side is definitely something I am looking to do. I would like to think I would have been in the squad for the World Championships this year had I not got injured but these things happen."
