Lee named top defenceman of tournament

1st April 2008
Excel Hull Stingrays teenager Steve Lee was named the Best Defenceman in the World Under-18 Championships as Great Britain missed out on the gold medal.

Having won their first four games, GB went down 3-1 to Hungary in the gold-medal decider on the final day.

Lee, 17, also finished the tournament, held in Estonia, as the highest-scoring defenceman having posted three goals and five assists in five games.

Joint owner Sue Pack said: "We have been following GB in the tournament and reading about Stevie's performances. He has done his country proud, his home team proud and himself proud. He has the talent and he has the attitude which goes with it. I am sure he will carry on representing his country at various levels in years to come."
