Phillips in GB squad, Boothroyd on standby

1st April 2008
Excel Hull Stingrays defenceman David Phillips has been named in the Great Britain squad for the World Championships in Innsbruck, Austria.

The 20-year-old is included in the party for the third successive year while Luke Boothroyd has been placed on standby.

Boothroyd will be called into the party should Belfast Giants’ Canadian-born defenceman Shane Johnson not receive his British passport in time.

Britain will take on Poland, Austria, Korea, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan from April 13-21 and will prepare for the championships by meeting Sweden Under-20s in a warm-up international at Coventry’s Skydome Arena on Thursday April 10.
