Coventry Blaze became the latest Elite League side to taste defeat at Hull Arena as the Stingrays preveiled 4-3 after overtime.

Less than a minute had elapsed when Adam Radmall - released by Coventry in the summer - fired past Jody Lehman for the opening goal. After that it was one way traffic as Ladislav Kudrna in the Hull goal faced 13 shots, with only four in total on Lehman, yet the score at the interval was still 1-0 to Hull.

The second period saw both sides generate plenty of offense, with a total of 30 shots on goal. Hull edged further ahead at 26.55 with Dru Burgess' tally, before the Blaze made their mark on the scoreboard at 35.13 with a goal from Chris McNamara. Only ten seconds later, the home side restored their two-goal lead as Andrei Nikolaev beat Lehman and the second break came with Hull 3-1 to the good.

The final frame saw Coventry come back into the game, and they pulled back within one goal at 45.50 as Russ Cowley went one-on-one successfully with Kudrna. Hull had the perfect chance to seal the win four minutes from time as Coventry were called for too many men on the ice. However, the Blaze overturned the powerplay and Doug Schueller skated away to score the game tying goal shorthanded. With time running down, the Stingrays had one final chance to win in regulation as Coventry's Vrabel was binned for tripping 37 seconds from time. The period ended, though, and the game went to overtime.

The remainder of the penalty on Vrabel was killed by Coventry, but Hull secured the win and the extra point with Scott Wray's goal at 63.10.
